The Tie-Dye Trend: Where to buy it, plus how I style it!

One of my favorite trends right now is tie-dye. I think it’s so fun, and it reminds me of being a kid. So many people are actually getting into it and DIY-ing their own tie-dye pieces lately. I’m not that crafty, so I am just going to share with you some of my favorite DIY-ers on Instagram, plus favorite places that you can buy tie-dye items! I also will share with you how I style my tie-dye. If you are into DIY and decide to try it yourself, be sure to share the results with me!

Where I buy it:

The only tie-dye item that I have bought so far is this cute cropped sweatshirt from Yingling Collection. I got it in olive, but I also love her reverse tie-dye sets! I also love supporting small businesses, especially during a time like this. She just started her business within the last couple of months, so go show her some support! Her site is open for orders every Sunday at 12:OO PM EST.

Pretty much everyone is taking advantage of the tie-dye trend lately. Here are some other places that I am shopping for tie-dye:

Red Dress Boutique – Lots of super cute tie-dye and loungewear options! This is one of my new favorite, affordable online boutiques.

Pink Lily Boutique – You guys know how much I love this online boutique. They have a range of styles and a range of prices, but similar to Red Dress, they have a lot of affordable options and a whole lot of tie-dye!

Abercrombie – Obviously not a small business like the rest of these places, and they have only a few tie-dye options right now. But I have been obsessed with their clothes in general lately and they do have a couple of cute tie-dye pieces. My favorite are the logo tees!

Or, if you’re into DIY, you can get tie-dye kits on Amazon and there are plenty of instructions online! There are also a lot of influencers sharing their tie-dye tips and tricks lately. Some of my favorite DIY Queens lately are Lauren Ashley (@sincerely_laurenashley), Aj Moya (@tryitonwithaj), and The Silver Details (@emilyc.silverman). If you’re like me, it’s really helpful to watch stories and learn that way, rather than just reading instructions.

How I style it:

One reason that I love tie-dye, is that it’s so easy to style! I am going to show you one tie-dye top, and multiple ways to style it. With all these outfits, I like to wear pretty simple jewelry since I want the tie-dye design to be the focus of the outfit. So I just wear a simple, gold necklace and maybe a couple of rings or simple bracelets.

In this first outfit, I just paired it with my favorite pair of jean shorts from Old Navy a few years ago. Here is a similar pair. These flip flops are also from Old Navy. Generally I would wear this top just around the house as loungewear, but it can easily be a great outfit for running errands or hanging out with friends (once we’re out of social distancing, of course…).

A similar option is to wear it with a pair of high-waisted jeans. These are the ripped high rise super skinny ankle jeans from Abercrombie. I got them in dark ripped wash with let down hem, and I’m wearing a size 27. I did end up sizing up in these though (to a 28) because Abercrombie does tend to run small. I believe these sandals were from Maurices last spring. They don’t have these anymore, but they do have super cute black sandal options!

When I wear tie-dye around the house, I pair it with loungewear. I love wearing it with these yoga pants from VS Pink. Again, I have been wearing this pair for yeeears but here is a similar pair that’s actually on sale for $30 right now!

Another option is to pair with pj shorts. I loooove these shorts from Target. I got them a few years ago (just like most of the other items I’m sharing today, oops!) and I know they were super popular back then. Target has a lot of great pajama options right now, but I can’t find this exact pair. Here is another option that looks super comfy and only $13!

And lastly, I like to wear this top with a pair of tight-fitting shorts. Not quite bike shorts since they’re so short, but I don’t actually own any bike shorts. These are $16 from Target as well. When I’m wearing a sweatshirt or flowy top, I like to pair it with a more fitted bottom to make it look a little more put-together. I do sometimes wear this top with loose sweatpants, but doesn’t look as good to me!

Let me know which of these 5 looks is your favorite! I am loving this tie-dye trend and will definitely be buying more items, even once we are out of social distancing. I think it’s so fun and easy to wear around the house and still look trendy. What do you think of tie-dye? Do you love this trend or not? Also, what other trends have you been loving lately? I think it’s cool how easy it is to style with tie-dye. My daughter is about to turn thirteen. I think she would love tie-dye clothes so she can come up with her own styles.
