I am one of those people who is ALWAYS cold. I wear sweatpants around the house all year round, I bring a jacket or cardigan with me everywhere, and I keep a blanket in my office for when I’m working at my computer. So when I’m buying clothes for the winter, they have to be functional and not just cute. If you also live somewhere that gets freaking cold in the winter, keep reading. I’m going to share a few trendy outfits that will actually keep you warm this winter.

Sherpas are a MUST.
They’re super cute, super soft and warm, but still super trendy. You can find sherpas on Etsy, at Target, and at many boutiques. But the best sherpas I have found so far are from Thread & Supply. They come in such pretty patterns and they are so cozy. I like that the inside is not fuzzy, so I don’t overheat. But it is warm enough to play in the snow, and it does block the wind so you stay warm longer.
A good pair of winter boots is also a must. These Bearpaw boots are from DSW, and are way more affordable than Uggs, but you get a similar look. I have had these for years and they are holding up great! I wear them allll the time in the winter.
Scarves that feel like blankets
Blanket scarves are another closet staple if you live in a colder climate. They are trendy, but still keep you so warm, but also this one from Abercrombie is so pretty! Sometimes I wear this around the house like it’s an actual blanket too, so definitely a good investment! Plus, right now it’s on clearance for only $13, and still available in just a couple of colors.
My heavy winter coat is from Dick’s Sporting Goods a couple of years ago. I can’t link it from them, but here it is from another retailer. It’s insulated and has a removable layer, and it has fur on the hood. The best feature though, is that it has thumb holes. Always a plus if you ask me! It is a little pricey, but so so so worth it. I was in desperate need of a good winter coat when I bought this one, and I would buy it again in an instant.
Puffer jackets/lighter coats
So, I’m not sure if these are technically “puffer jackets” because I haven’t intentionally jumped on that trend. But I do own two lighter coats that I will use when it’s not below like 50 degrees. My favorite is this white NorthFace coat. It’s insanely comfortable, and I absolutely love the white (although I probably need to clean mine more!). Again, I got mine at Dick’s Sporting Goods and am not able to find the exact one. But here is a similar one in black. And here is similar one in white. Another similar, more affordable, but not as good quality coat that I have is this one from Old Navy. It’s a good option if you don’t want to spend the $$$ on NorthFace. I have had both of these coats for a few years now, and again they are both holding up great! Well worth the investment.
